Towards the end of 2007, steps were taken to establish the job of New Caledonian nature and hiking guide. The project was initiated jointly by the three provinces.
This hiking guide would have a dual role: showing the country to visitors on foot and also being a real environmental intermediary in his or her area in order to carry out preservation and maintenance tasks on behalf of institutions, private agencies or NGOs.
Three major fields of activity make up this future job:
- Preparing and organising hiking activity products
- Supervising people in complete safety on existing passable tracks
- Preserving and enhancing the natural environment
Course date: Planned for the second half of 2010. The running of this course will depend on how far the work on the job reference system has advanced.

Admission: Through North Province Tourism Training
This training course is financed by the North Province.
